The Challenge
A national plumbing retailer operates trade centres and distribution facilities across Australia. When a national fitout program got underway, the specification for compliant handrailing needed to work consistently at scale.
The requirement was clear: stair handrailing and mezzanine barrier handrailing at every site needed to meet AS 1657 and hold up in active commercial warehouse environments long-term. Getting that right once is straightforward. Achieving the same compliance outcome and finish quality across multiple sites, without variation, is where the complexity comes in.
The reseller engaged for the national rollout needed a modular system that could be replicated site to site without custom fabrication at each location. Structural compliance under AS 1170 was non-negotiable, and the finish specification required hot-dip galvanising to AS 4680 throughout.
The Solution

All components are certified to AS 1657 and AS 1170, hot-dip galvanised to AS 4680, and designed to replicate site to site without variation. The modular system meant no custom fabrication was required at each location. The same components, the same fittings, and the same installation process were used across the full program.
In active trade centre and distribution environments, where foot traffic, trolleys, and pallet jacks are daily realities, the hot-dip galvanised finish provides the long-term durability that painted or powder-coated alternatives cannot reliably match.
